The Windows 10 – Feature Update version 1803 caused the Sentinel Dongle Driver used by our legacy Sentinel Superpro Dongles to not work correctly.

NOTE – Blackmagic/Megarip/Veripress v7.0.01 (and below) users are NOT affected. Serendipity V7 Driverless USB Dongles are also NOT affected.

BUG FIX

Serendipity Blackmagic / Megarip / Veripress v7.1.01 – Windows Update 1 fixes the dongle driver issue. Depending on the situation, follow one of the two sets of directions below to apply the fix.

Users already running v 7.1.01 on Windows 10 prior to Feature Update 1803

As the Server is unable to start, the Serendipity Updater needs to be run stand-alone to apply the fix. Follow these steps:

Open Windows File Explorer, then navigate to the appropriate folder for your installation:
- …/Serendipity/Serendipity Blackmagic/bin/
- …/Serendipity/Serendipity Megarip/bin/
- …/Serendipity/Veripress/bin/
Run (double-click on) the swupdate.exe program file.
The Serendipity Updater window will open. Windows Update 1 will be displayed in the Available Updates tab.
Click Install to apply the update, the Quit the Updater.

Run the Server, the Sentinel Dongle will now be detected and the Server will function normally.

Users installing a new v 7.1.01 or updating to v 7.1.01 on Windows 10 version 1803

Legacy Sentinel Dongle users installing Serendipity Blackmagic / Megarip / Veripress 7.1.01 on a Windows 10 machine that has already been updated with Windows 10 Features Update 1803 should follow these steps to apply the Sentinel Dongle fix:

Install the software.
Install the Sentinel Protection Installer 7.6.9.exe driver.
Download the productinfo.xml file for your installation from one of these links:
Open Windows File Explorer.
Unzip the downloaded folder, then copy the productinfo.xml file into the folder appropriate to your installation:
- …/Serendipity/Serendipity Blackmagic/etc/
- …/Serendipity/Serendipity Megarip/etc/
- …/Serendipity/Veripress/etc/
Next, navigate to:
- …/Serendipity/Serendipity Blackmagic/bin/

To install the latest USB KEY Drivers, complete the following instructions:

1. Log into your computer as a user with administrative permissions.
2. Download the latest run-time installer HERE, and save it to your desktop.
3. Create a new folder in the root of C: named 'driver'
4. Locate the downloaded file haspdinst.zip, and Extract All.. to C:driver (On Windows 8/ 8.1 and Windows 10 extract it to your desktop then manually copy it to the C:driver folder)
5. Open an elevated Command Prompt by doing the following sub-steps
Notes: If you do not have the 'Run as administrator' option, please contact your company's IT Administrator to give you access to this or have them perform the procedure for you.

Navigate to Start menu and type in the search bar: cmd

Once 'cmd.exe' shows in the program list, right-click it and select: Run as Administrator.
